Food Trucks!

I love supporting charities, and it's even better when I can support a local charity by eating at Food Trucks!!

Food trucks have become quite a craze in southern Ontario this year, and Hamilton is home to some of the finest! Today I had the delicious opportunity to sample some food from an out-of-town truck, Hank Daddy's BBQ from Maple, Ontario.

While my coworkers ate from the ever popular, local favorite, Gorilla Cheese, I pondered the menu at Hank Daddy's. Pulled pork sandwiches, smoked chicken wings, pulled pork parfait (pulled pork with layered mashed potatoes), and my choice for lunch - Cowboy Fries!

Yep, sweet, saucy pulled pork and coleslaw, but what the picture doesn't show is the bed of sweet potato fries on the bottom! A delicious lunch, and the portion was perfect - filling, but not stuffing. The only downside was the price - compared to similar local trucks, it was a little more pricey and the taste didn't set it apart. Foodies could get a pulled pork sandwich that was just as good for a cheaper price, if there was competition on the block.

Either way, a delicious lunch, and a portion of the proceeds were donated to the Hamilton/Burlington United Way!

Emma...

...decided she had done enough talking at church on Sunday! Fine by me... The car ride was a little quieter...

Always amusing...

.....annnnnnnd I'm back!

As many of you know, I've returned to school (part-time) to work on a Master's degree. While working on a recent history paper, Kristin encourages me to take some pressure off myself. I hast thought about it in any great detail before, but it turns out that I have high standards for myself. Who knew?

I think the same thing happens with this blog. I'm excited and anticipate a lot, but fall totally off track and then become discouraged.

So I'm giving this thing another kick at the can! This time, putting less pressure on myself, and just letting it be fun!

Time flies and life gets busy, but taking time to document and share life is important, so I'm going to try to do just that!

(... And with my new Blogger app for my phone, it might just be a little easier!)

Look forward to pictures of the kids, stories, things I'm learning and ... Food reviews! My brother might be getting annoyed with my constant text messages about what I'm cooking or eating, so I'll put it on here instead...

Hope you enjoy!

Emma & the Kleenex Box

Kristin and I are generally opposed to sharing video of our kids on the internet; we try to be careful about what information we post, how much we post, etc.  With the internet the way it is, privacy has become rare, so we aim to keep what we can.

That being said, we have lots of friends and family who live far from us, and it makes it difficult to share our lives with them.  So... we've decided to share a fun video we took this weekend.  I've uploaded it to YouTube, and I'll leave it up for a week or so, and then we'll take it down.  Enjoy!

It's labeled as an unlisted video, which means you have to access it directly from the link - it isn't "search-able" on the YouTube site.

Sorry the lighting isn't great - it was unexpected and turned out a little dark...

New Years Reflections

Happy New Year everyone!

It's hard to believe that an entire year has passed.  One year ago today, reality sunk in.  One year ago today, Kristin and I cried tears of joy and thanksgiving in our driveway.  One year ago today, we brought our little miracles home.

It's even harder to believe that Teddy is standing next to me, reaching to press the keys like his Daddy.  They're growing up so fast.

One year ago today, we snuggled them into their car seats - barely weighing 5lbs.  Today, they crawl all over us, they make faces, walk (holding on to things), explore, laugh at each other, say "mama" and "dada", and have their own very distinct personalities.

I'm overwhelmed when I remember that day - feeling so blessed to have 3 healthy babies to bring home.  Feeling so blessed, and so terrified at the responsibility that lay ahead.

We're very much looking forward to the year ahead - we look forward to many more laughs, smiles, words, hugs, stories and games.  We look forward to new parenting challenges, adventures and trips.  We continue to remember God's goodness to us, and we are forever grateful.  We hope you feel the same way, this January 1, 2011.  Happy New Year!  Here are some recent pictures of our little guys...

June 2010

Back to catching up!  June was a busy month; lots of new adventures!

The first time in High Chairs!

My first Father's Day...

I was first given a hearty breakfast and a (wonderful) homemade newspaper, complete with puzzles!

Then it was off to a concert in the park!  One of my favorite bands was playing; it was the babies' first rock concert!

Then it was off to the beach for hot dogs, ice cream and playing on the blanket!  All in all, a fabulous day!

Another "first" was swimming!
Teddy, just lazing about in the pool...

Emma's turn!

Joshua, ready to jump in!

Mommy, with our little swimmers!

All that swimming makes (most of) us tired!
 And finally, a baby dedication...
We ended off the month of June with a baby dedication at West Highland, where we committed ourselves to raising our kids to know and love Jesus.

Pet Peeves

The guy in front of me at the drive-thru bank machine who got out of his car to use the machine.

They call it "drive-thru" for a reason, if you have to exit your vehicle, you might as well go inside.
